All-rounder Data Engineers will be hitting the boundaries of big data during our interactive workshop before stepping up to win big in our Cricket simulator!

Facing a variety of cricket-themed workshop tasks, Qubole will provide the open source big data technology and cloud platform for you to show off your big data batting skills. You’ll then get the chance to compete in our interactive Cricket simulator to win the QCC trophy and a host of other prizes!.

Join our 90-minute workshop that will see you build real-time social listening pipelines, interactive dashboards and recommendation engines using a variety of open source technology and Cricket databases.

Step into the Qubole batting nets to face the world's best spin and pace bowlers in this fully immersive virtual experience. You have 2 overs to see how many 'virtual' runs you can score while you enjoy free refreshments & networking.

Prizes are awarded to the individual that builds the most robust recommendation engine and the highest scorers in the Qubole Cricket simulator. The highest scorer across all events will win the QCC 2019 trophy!

Swing your big data bat

Using Qubole, Apache Spark, Presto, Kafka, Airflow, Hadoop and Tableau you have 3 workshop tasks to take part in:

 

  1. Find the most influential Cricket supporters globally
  2. Build and publish an interactive dashboard to correlate performance data from every team competing at the World Cup   
  3. Build a recommendation engine to predict the winner, 2nd place, semi-finalists and the top bowler and batsman

 

Qubole Solution Architects will lead this session and will guide you through each part of the session. It’ll be a truly interactive and hands-on experience, all you need is your laptop and intermediate SQL experience.

Join one of four QCC workshops by registering today. Due to the interactive concept of the workshop and batting competition, spaces are strictly limited at each event. You’ll receive joining details when you have registered.

Regardless of when you'll take part in the QCC 2019 series, you can expect the following order of play:

  • Registration & welcome - 15 mins
  • Interactive workshop - 90 mins:
    • Find the most influential Cricket supporters globally
    • Build and publish an interactive dashboard to correlate performance data from   every team competing at the World Cup
    • Build a recommendation engine to predict the winner, 2nd place, semi-finalists and the top bowler and batsman
  • Qubole Cricket Sim competition & networking - 60 mins

When & where is the QCC workshop being hosted?

We are hosting four QCC workshops at Code Node, London on:

Thursday 25th July from 6pm to 9pm

You are welcome to just join in the interactive workshop but we do recommend that you hang around to compete in the Qubole Cricket simulator to network, win and enjoy free food and drink.

What can I expect from the QCC workshop?

Over 90-minutes we’ll walk you through a series of workshop tasks that will have you use various open source big data tools and Qubole as your data platform. You will:

Find the most influential Cricket supporters on Twitter using Apache Spark streaming, Kinesis and Presto

Build & publish an interactive dashboard to correlate performance data from every team competing at the ICC World Cup using Presto notebooks

Build a recommendation engine to predict the winner and top performers at the ICC World Cup through advanced data mining techniques

Qubole Solution Architects will be on-hand to guide you through each workshop task.

What do I need to do to get involved?

We can only offer 50 places at each workshop, therefore you should register as early as possible. All you need to bring with you is your registration confirmation email and a laptop with Chrome or Firefox installed.

What can I win?

We will be awarding an exclusive big data Cricket bat to those that get the top score over two overs in the Qubole Cricket simulator as well as a QCC Big Hitter Trophy for each event. It doesn’t stop there as your score will be entered into the QCC league and the overall winner will get their hands on the QCC Champions Trophy and £300 in Amazon vouchers. All delegates will receive a Qubole goodie bag on the day of the event.
